Cause of Death Revealed for Rice Soccer Player, 19, Found Dead in Her Apartment a Day After Posting ChatGPT ‘Devil Trend’
The cause of death for a sophomore soccer player at Rice University, who was found dead in her apartment, has been revealed.
PEOPLE previously reported that the student, identified as Claire Tracy, died in Houston on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the age of 19.
On Thursday. Dec. 11, records from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences viewed by PEOPLE stated that Tracy died of “asphyxia due to oxygen displacement by helium.” The manner of death was ruled as a suicide.
A day before her death, Tracy posted a TikTok video captioned “my version of the devil trend,” where she shared a screenshot of her conversation with ChatGPT.
PEOPLE has contacted the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science and the Houston Police Department for further comment.
